Kobiety na banknoty – lekcja języka angielskiego

Pomysł na lekcję angielskiego oraz ćwiczenie na maturę podstawową lub hmm … egzamin gimnazjalny. Większą czcionką tekst który można użyć jako ćwiczenie na lekcji angielskiego i poniżej zdania do której trzeba dopisać liczbę/postać z banknotu. Mam w planach utworzenie działu pliki do pobrania, gdzie takie ćwiczenia będę umieszczać w pdf, ale na razie zastanawiam się jak to wrzucać, jaka chmurę podłączyć i jak zrobić znak wodny (na prawdę czasem więcej spędzam czasu na tym czego nie widać niż na zrobieniu wpisu ;-( ) Puki co możecie drukować :

1. Elizabeth Fry (1780-1845) appears on the reverse side of a British £ 5 note. She was a famous philanthropist from the 19th century who wanted to improve prison conditions at Newgate Prison in London. She Founds association to help women inmates, calling for the sexes to be separated and female warders. She also dedicated a lot of her time to helping the homeless.

2. The man on the back of the £ 10 note is Charles Darwin. This English naturalist is probably best known for his theory of evolution and his book On the Origin of Species. He wrote the book after travelling around the world for five years on the ship HMS Beagle.

3. Scottish economist Adam Smith (1723-1790) is on the back of the £ 20 note. Smith wrote the book The Wealth of Nations. In his work, he looked at topics such as the division of labour, productivity and free markets. H is ideas are still used in modern economics today.

4. Matthew Boulton (1728-1809) and James Watt (1736-1819). James Watt was a Scottish inventor who improved the design of steam engines, and Matthew Boulton was an English businessman who financed the project. The manufacturing firm they started (Boulton & Watt)played a major role in the Industrial Revolution.

5. Jane Austen is set to feature on the next £ 10 note. Jane Austen, who lived from 1775 to 1817, is one of the UK’s most famous novelists, and was the author of books such as Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility. After the Bank of England announced that Sir Winston Churchill would replace Elizabeth Fry on the £ 5 note, there was a campaign to get more women on banknotes, which resulted in the choice of Jane Austen. The Pride and Prejudice author will be the next face of the note, replacing Charles Darwin, probably in 2017.

W sumie co będzie zobaczymy. W GB często zmieniają postacie na baknotach aby zapobiegać fałszerstwu (forgery). Chodzą głosy, że Wsród przyszłych rewersów będzie postać J.K. Rowling i Tima Burnrs-Lee (wynalazcy Internetu) –> można zrobić dyskusję kogo uczniowie widzieli by na banknotach i dlaczego, lub zrobić projekt do przygotowania w domu na ten temat

Mam nadzieje, że widzicie potencjał w takiej lekcji, ja tak. Sama ją niedługo przeprowadzę ale z gimnazjalistą a nie maturzystą, ale myślę że pomysł można dostosować do jednych i drugich. Podoba się wam?
